What safeguarding means

Safeguarding adults means protecting a person's right to live free from abuse, neglect and harm. Under the Care Act 2014, local authorities such as Suffolk County Council have a duty to make enquiries when they believe an adult with care and support needs may be at risk of abuse or neglect. Abuse can take many forms, including physical, financial, psychological, sexual or discriminatory abuse, neglect, and organisational or self-neglect.

As a regulated care provider, everyone at Harmony Homecare Suffolk — carers, office staff and management — has a duty to recognise signs of potential abuse or neglect and to act on them, whether the concern relates to something we have observed, something a client or family member has told us, or something involving another organisation.

How to raise a concern with us

If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of someone we support, please contact our office as soon as possible. You do not need to be certain something is wrong to raise it — if in doubt, tell us.

You can also raise an adult safeguarding concern directly with Suffolk County Council's adult safeguarding team, whether or not you have already contacted us — this route is available to anyone, including clients, family members and members of the public.
